Basketball Players – 6 Of This Year’s Best

Though basketball has continued to achieve greater popularity throughout the world in recent years, the elite teams and players perform in the United States. It is in the National Basketball Association that the best and brightest round ballers ply their trade. Even players born in other countries make their way to America in order to live out their hoop dreams, because that is where the audiences are most abundant, and the game play is on another level. Here are some of the best basketball players in America today.

Interestingly, one of the best players in America was not born on her shores. Germany’s Dirk Nowitzki plays for the Dallas Mavericks and led the franchise to the league championship in 2011. His jump shot is flat out deadly, and his height allows for a fade away that makes this shot nearly unstoppable. He is a big man that offers the unique combination of an effective shooter who can also block a shot.

Though the Los Angeles Lakers did not achieve another title in 2011, Kobe Bryant is not to blame. He is arguably the best player in the country, and even the rest of the world. He did not take the usual route of basketball players in the NBA, foregoing college and signing with the league fresh out of high school. It is obvious to all who marvel at his skills that this decision did not affect his dominance in the least. Bryant lights up the scoreboard, and there are few, if any, players a coach would rather have take the last shot when the game is on the line.

No list of America’s best basketball players would be complete without LeBron James. Like Bryant, LeBron came to the league without college experience and his effortless play allowed his almost instantaneous rise to superstardom. Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder is the current seasonal leader in points per game, and Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets steals the ball from other players with ease. Derrick Rose, of the Chicago Bulls, is recognized as one of the game’s elite, and he captured the NBA MVP Award in 2011.

Champions and award winners are not the only superlative basketball players in America. Dwyane Wade, LeBron James’ teammate, is the driving force of that team, and led the Heat to an NBA Championship win before the arrival of James. Andrew Bogut of the Milwaukee Bucks is the best blocker in the game, and Steve Nash dishes the ball to his Phoenix Suns teammates better than anyone playing today. These are the players that currently wow fans and media members all over the country.
